St. Louis – A Florida man has pleaded guilty to impersonating clients of a St. Louis brokerage firm in order to steal proceeds from their stock holdings.
Thirty five-year-old Christopher Maury admitted to fraudulent obtaining the information of Scottrade clients. Maury would then call the company and convince Scottrade employees to liquidate stocks of the customer he was impersonating. The proceeds would go to a bank account Maury controlled in Florida.
Maury has already paid more than $32,000 in restitution. He faces up to 20 years in prison and a possible $250,000 fine for one count of wire fraud.
