St. Louis – The one remaining Chrysler plant in the St. Louis area will close two weeks from Friday, which is earlier than expected.
Last month, the company announced plans to shut down its north assembly plant in Fenton and five other facilities around the country as part of a restructuring plan.
About 600 remaining workers at Fenton North produce Dodge Ram pickup trucks. The plant was idled May 1, and was on track to close later this year.
There will be a final production run starting next week.
Wednesday's announcement means the facility will not reopen after Chrysler's traditional two-week summer shutdown that begins July 10th.
Chrysler closed its Fenton South minivan plant late last year.
