WATERLOO, Ill – Authorities said Wednesday a Metro East man accused of strangling his wife and two sons sent his family threatening e-mails from own his laptop.

Columbia Police Chief Joseph Edwards also said vulgar statements spray-painted throughout the house -- including on the children's beds -- matched the handwriting of Christopher Coleman.

The defendant sat silently during his preliminary hearing Wednesday, during which Edwards revealed new evidence in the case.

The 32-year-old has pleaded not guilty to three counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his wife, Sherri Coleman, and their two sons, Garett, 11, and 9-year-old Gavin.

They were found strangled in their beds on May 5.
