Median barrier will eliminate one lane on King Bridge

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis – The Martin Luther King Bridge in St. Louis will close temporarily in the fall so workers can install a median barrier meant to reduce crossover crashes.

The department said the bridge will have to be closed for a total of 12 days, but that may be split into two phases.

The barrier will leave the bridge with one westbound lane and two eastbound lanes.

The project will cost an estimated $2.5 million, to be paid by Illinois, Missouri and the federal government.
