Washington, D.C. – In good news for some Boeing workers in St. Louis, a Senate committee has taken action to restore funding for eight C-17 cargo planes. Boeing makes parts for the C-17 and employs about 1,000 local workers on the program.
A conference committee and the full Senate and House still must sign off on the $2.2 billion in the supplemental defense budget to keep the C-17 line in production. Senator Kit Bond of Missouri says that approval appears imminent.
