Jefferson City, MO – Governor Jay Nixon says he's begun reviewing Missouri's budget for Fiscal Year 2010.
The $23 billion spending plan includes $785 million in federal stimulus funding to help support various needs.
"We will go through (the budget) line-by-line...we will make sure that the income we have matches the out-go...I expect to have to trim some of the things in that budget, so it's going to be a painstaking process," Nixon said.
Nixon also told reporters he'll announce in the next 10 days to two weeks which budget items will get the pen or the axe.
The governor is also reviewing a bill that would spend $600 million over two years on various projects around the state, with more than half of the money coming from federal stimulus funds.
