Recession being felt by young scientists

St. Louis – You can count scientists and researchers among the growing ranks of workers affected by the global economic crisis.

Historically, jobs in science and academia have been resistant to fluctuations in the economy because of continued federal support for research.

A decade ago, record numbers of graduate students entered programs to train for jobs, which these days are becoming scarce.

In part two of his series on science and the economy, KWMU's Adam Allington traces the supply and demand for young scientists.
