Recession worsens funding problems for St. Louis scientists

St. Louis – Banks and households aren't the only sectors of our economy straining under the weight of the recession.

Federal funding for science and research tapered off years before the downturn.

While the negative impacts may not be as obvious or immediate as the fallout from the housing and credit markets, the implications for future jobs and innovation may be just as dire.

In the first of a two-part series on the state of research under a faltering economy, KWMU's Adam Allington takes a look at how some of our local colleges and universities are coping.
