St. Louis, MO – More than three hundred members of the St. Louis business community attended an earthquake preparedness seminar Friday.
Tim Bonno of the Gateway Citizens' Corps Coalition is the event's coordinator. He says businesses need to be prepared for natural disasters because of the potential for extensive damage.
"We will be faced with power outages, could be. Could be facing problems with water, sewer. As far as the business is concerned they're going to have to worry about the physical structure of their facility. How are they going to run their computer operations during that period of time if there's a large scale outage."
Bonno says businesses can prepare for an earthquake by securing a back-up power source, alternate work facilities and transportation assistance for employees.
Missouri experienced its last significant earthquake last April.
