Jefferson City, MO – The Missouri Senate has postponed its confirmation of Linda Martinez as Governor Jay Nixon's Economic Development Director.
State Senator Brad Lager (R, Maryville) wants a list of clients Martinez has represented to see if there may be any conflict of interest.
Martinez has worked as an attorney in St. Louis. She says she would recuse herself if one of her former clients were to pursue economic development incentives.
Critics have also accused Martinez of advocating for illegal immigrants.
The State Senate is expected to bring up her confirmation again next week.
A spokesman for Governor Nixon says Martinez is well qualified to be Economic Development Director and will provide any additional information requested.
KWMU also contacted Senator Lager, but so far he has not responded.
