St. Louis, MO – The man known as the Boonie Hat Bandit has been indicted on 12 federal counts of bank robbery.
The US attorney's office announced the charges against 45-year-old Donald Giammanco today. He robbed the banks between November 2007 and his capture in September 2008.
Giammanco was an unemployed construction worker who needed money to pay his daughters's private school tuition, as well as other household expenses. He faces 240 years in prison if convicted on all charges.
