Business group targets Missouri, other states in anti-union effort

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis – A new coalition is targeting Missouri at least four other states with proposed constitutional amendments requiring that union elections be conducted by secret ballot.

The effort launched Monday by the business-backed group Save Our Secret Ballot is meant to counter union-supported federal legislation that would abolish the power of employers to demand worker elections before recognizing unions.

The group said it is also planning initiatives in Arizona and Arkansas, and will work through legislatures to get similar measures on the ballot in Nevada and Utah.

Additional states could be added to the campaign in the next several weeks.
