Springfield, Ill. – The impeachment panel has asked federal prosecutors investigating Blagojevich what witnesses could be called to testify without damaging the ongoing federal probe.
If the more than 30 names submitted are deemed off limits, the panel might wrap up soon. A recommendation would go to the House floor. If it's approved Blagojevich would be tried in the state senate.
Meanwhile, Blagojevich remains Governor, and in a short statement Friday said he has no plans to resign...
"I'm not going to quit a job the people hired me to do because of false allegations and a political lynch mob," Blagojevich said
An attorney for the governor later said Blagojevich would leave office if the scandal results in the people of Illinois "suffering." But he never clarified how that would be determined.
