Missouri Secretary of State Robin Carnahan said her staff will talk to St. Louis County election officials about why some voters had to wait up to six hours to cast ballots Tuesday.
In the St. Louis suburb of Velda City, the last voter cast his ballot at 9:30 p.m.
Secretary of State Robin Carnahan said it's too soon to tell whether a lack of planning or large turnout was to blame for the delays in Velda City and in other precincts.
"We'll have to see after the fact if there's a way that they can assess which of the causes made this happen," Carnahan said "But in any case, it clearly is unacceptable and it's certainly an argument that we need to be taking forward to the legislature next year again to talk about allowing Missourians to vote early."
Carnahan said she has promoted no-excuse early voting to the legislature each year that she's been in office.
