Groups to launch final voter drive on Election Day

By Adam Allington, KWMU

St. Louis – Starting early Tuesday morning, volunteers from various organizations will undertake a massive get-out-the-vote effort in Missouri.

The NAACP plans to send out 1,800 volunteers around the state.

St. Louis chapter President Claude Brown says they plan to knock on thousands of doors, especially in the African-American neighborhoods of St. Louis city and County. "Those people are called flushers," Brown said "We're going to have people out all day, encouraging people to vote, starting at six that morning."

The NAACP and the St. Louis Voter Protection Coalition will also be providing rides to the polls.
