Kirkwood, Mo. – Funeral services have been set for former Kirkwood mayor Mike Swoboda.
No visitation is planned, but Swoboda's funeral will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church of Kirkwood.
Swoboda, 69, died Saturday. He was shot twice in the head in February when a disgruntled resident opened fire at a city council meeting. Two police officers, two council members and the public works director died in the rampage. Police killed the shooter.
Swoboda appeared to be improving before recent setbacks.
Kirkwood mayor Art McDonnell said Swoboda's death was due in part to the shooting and in part to his struggle with cancer.
