St. Louis – Herculaneum, Missouri is home to the country's only lead smelter.

In 2002, St. Louis-based Doe Run offered to buy out about 160 homeowners near the plant because of lead pollution.

Now a new documentary called "Unleaded" explores the continued impact of lead on the small community.

What makes this film so unusual is that it was directed, produced and narrated by a high school senior from Kirkwood.

KWMU's Maria Hickey caught up Will Godar to find out why the recent graduate was drawn to Herculaneum's story.
