Jefferson City, MO – The number of Republicans who want to see G.O.P. House Member Scott Muschany resign is growing.
The 42-year-old lawmaker from St. Louis was indicted this week by a grand jury of "deviate sexual assault" against a 14-year-old girl.
Senate President Pro-tem and Republican nominee for Attorney General Michael Gibbons says it's Muschany's decision to make, but he thinks stepping down would be good.
"It's horrible, it's devastating, I guess in our system he has a chance...he's considered to be innocent until proven guilty, so I guess we'll see how it pans out, but if it turns out that he is guilty of that offense against a 14-year-old, there is no punishment too severe for him," Gibbons said.
Governor Matt Blunt and Lt. Governor Peter Kinder have both called on Muschany to resign his State House seat.
