Tiger attacks volunteer at exotic animal farm

By AP/KWMU

Warrenton, Mo. – An investigation continues after a tiger attacked a volunteer at a Missouri exotic animal farm.

The incident happened Sunday at the Wesa-A-Geh-Ya farm in Warren County. Authorities say the 800-pound animal jumped a fence before it mauled a volunteer.

The 26-year-old victim had surgery on his lower leg and is expected to recover.

The farm is home to 50 exotic animals and has been criticized by animal rights groups.

Other volunteers say the farm is struggling financially. They say the attack was the first time an animal has gotten loose.

The tiger was euthanized soon after the attack.

The Warren County Sheriff's Department expects to present findings to the county prosecutor in about a week.
