Sunrise Beach, Mo. – Missouri Water Patrol divers recovered the body of a St. Louis-area boy Monday in the Lake of the Ozarks.
Zachary West of Eureka was 9 years old. He died after a sightseeing helicopter crashed into the lake Sunday evening.
Three other passengers and the pilot jumped out of the chopper and swam to shore as the aircraft spun out of control.
Missouri State Water Patrol Captain Matt Walz said divers from surrounding counties were called in to assist with search efforts.
"We did contact local divers here in Camden County and also Lake Ozark Fire Department divers to dive for the missing person," Walz said.
Walz said the National Transportation Safety Board will now conduct a routine investigation. The NTSB investigates all non-military aircraft accidents.
