St. Louis, MO – St. Louis Metropolitan Police are looking for a man who shot a postal worker on Monday.
The mailman is listed in critical but stable condition after being shot twice. He was shot in the back of the head and right shoulder while delivering mail in the Tower Grove South neighborhood, at the corner of Spring and Potomac.
He was taken to an area hospital for treatment where he is listed in stable condition.
The suspect is a black male armed with a large silver colored handgun. He was last scene running south on Giles street.
Dan Taylor is a postal inspector with the Postal Service.
"The last time that this happened in St. Louis was approximately 7 years ago and then prior to that was about 15 or 20 years ago, where a letter carrier had been shot out on the route."
No motive has been established for the crime.
Crimes against federal employees, such as postal workers, carry stiffer penalties up to the death penalty in cases of murder.
