St. Louis, MO – The ice and freezing rain is expected to end briefly Thursday evening...but forecasters warn more is on the way.
National Weather Service Senior Forecaster Scott Truett says the precipitation will let up tonight between 4:00 and 6:00 PM.
But he cautioned another wave will arrive sometime tomorrow morning.
"And it looks like it might once again just start developing around rush hour again and continue until at least the early part of the afternoon tomorrow."
Truett said total ice and snow accumulation is expected to be about two inches.
Highway and traffic personnel are asking residents to stay off the roads unless absolutely necessary.
Lambert Airport is open but dozens of flights have been delayed or cancelled. Officials are urging people to call ahead to check their flight status.
