St. Louis, MO. – The Missouri Department of Transportation says commuting times around St. Louis remain largely unaffected despite the closure of Interstate 64.
MoDOT says morning and evening rush periods are lasting longer, but traffic flow on interstates is flowing smoothly.
Diane Williams of the transportation agency Metro says bus and train use increased substantially in January and helped alleviate traffic congestion.
"When you look at Metrobus and Metrolink, those two modes of transportation added about 17,800 commuter trips," Williams said.
MoDot says that peak travel times are from 7:30 to 8:30 in the morning and 4:30 to 5:30 in the evening, and if possible commuters should adjust their driving time.
