St. Louis – Republican presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani was admitted to a St. Louis hospital Wednesday night after falling ill on the campaign trail.

A spokeswoman for the Giuliani campaign said the former New York mayor felt flu-like systems while making several campaign stops around Missouri.

Katie Levinson said Giuliani felt worse after his plane left St. Louis, so he turned around and checked in to a local hospital for tests and an overnight stay.

She said doctors found nothing of concern, and says the candidate will head back to New York Thursday.

This followed a rough day for Giuliani. Earlier Wednesday his airplane had mechanical trouble. Supporters in Columbia had to wait several hours while the candidate was driven across the state.

Giuliani has spent more time in Missouri than the other presidential candidates. The state is one of many holding its primary on February 5.
