St. Louis, Mo. –

EXTENDED INTERVIEW

There's an old joke that says if you want to know where the newest war is, look for Christiane Amanpour.'

The longtime CNN correspondent is world renowned for her reporting, especially from war zones.

And though there is no military war in St. Louis, that's just where she'll be tonight. Her speech at 8:00 p.m. at Powell Hall is part of the St. Louis Speaker Series, presented by Maryville University.

Amanpour told KWMU's Tom Weber that she plans to discuss world events and journalism, and she's never hesitated to criticize her own profession. She once coined a term in criticizing news programs for being dictated by what she called hocus pocus focus groups.'
