St. Louis, MO. – A fighter jet crashed over south-central Missouri Friday.
It's the second Missouri Air National Guard aircraft lost in six months.
The F-15C Eagle was flying in formation with three other jets before it crashed near Salem in Dent County.
The pilot ejected safely. No one on the ground was hurt.
It's the second jet from the Missouri Air Guard's 131st Fighter Wing in St. Louis to crash this year.
An F-15D went down May 30th over Indiana. The pilot escaped with minor injuries.
Captain Bridget Zorn of the Missouri Air National Guard says an investigation is already underway into the latest crash.
"In fact we sent an emergency response team to the area right now to go ahead and start the recovery and go ahead and begin the investigation process," Zorn said.
An Air Force investigation into the previous crash found a jammed cable was to blame.
