Kansas City, Mo. – Closing arguments are expected Thursday in the penalty phase of the trial of a Kansas woman convicted of killing an expectant mother and cutting the baby from her body.
A federal jury in Kansas City will then decide whether Lisa Montgomery of Melvern, Kan. should be sentenced to death or to life in prison without parole.
on Monday, she was convicted of killing 23-year-old Bobbie Jo Stinnett of Skidmore, Mo.
On Wednesday, jurors heard the 911 call from Stinnett's mother, who found her daughter's bloodied body with womb slashed open.
Prosecutors want Montgomery to get the death penalty. She was convicted of kidnapping resulting in death.
