Ground broken for new housing shelter

By Adam Allington, KWMU

St. Louis, MO. – Ground was broken Friday on a new permanent housing shelter St. Louis homeless in North St. Louis.

The building will be on the site of the current Rosati House on the 4200 block of Grand.

John Herber is the president of the board of the St. Patrick Center which will manage the facility.

"They will not be just left in a shelter where they are there to fend for themselves or just get food and drink," Herber said. "They will have professional counselors assisting them on a regular basis."

The $5 million project is a for a 26-unit green building to be completed in 2008.
