St. Louis, MO – St. Louis officials are reporting a seventh heat-related death in the City.
The 74-year old man was found Monday; his name has not been released. He lived in the 5500 block of Sutherland, in the Southampton neighborhood in south City.
Officials say the man had an air conditioner but it wasn't on.
St. Louis has seen sweltering heat and humidity over much of the past three weeks. Highs in the upper 90s are expected through the week, prompting an excessive heat warning.
Several St. Louis area schools cut classes short Wednesday because of the heat, including the city school district, where a number of buildings don't have air conditioning. The district says schools will dismiss early on Thursday and Friday, as well. Here is the schedule for SLPS schools:
Start Time | Dismissal Time |
7:20 a.m. | 10:50 a.m. |
8:15 a.m. | 11:45 a.m. |
9:10 a.m. | 12:40 p.m. |
