St. Louis, MO – The Ballpark Village project near Busch Stadium could get state tax credits this morning (Tuesday), when the Development Finance Board meets in Jefferson City.
The board has previously recommended the project get $27 million in tax credits, though the city initially sought about $36 million. The board says it lowered the city's recommendation based on its own estimates of the project's economic impact.
Team and city leaders want the $300 million done or mostly done by the summer of 2009; that's when St. Louis will host baseball's All-Star game.
In February, the St. Louis Board of Alderman approved the project, which also includes more than $100 million in city and state incentives.
The six-block retail and entertainment district will go where the old Busch Stadium stood.
