St. Louis, MO – The University City post office at the west end of the Delmar Loop will soon have a new name.

President Bush last week signed legislation into law that re-names the building after Harriet Woods. The former Missouri Lieutenant Governor and KWMU commentator lived in University City.

She died in February of leukemia at the age of 79.

She was the first woman to serve as Lt. Governor and stayed active after office, working to get more women into politics.

The post office is at 561 Kingsland and will specifically be named the "Harriett F. Woods Post Office Building."
