Regions Air sues FAA, Durbin

By AP/KWMU

Washington, DC – Regions Air is suing Senator Dick Durbin and the Federal Aviation Agency.

The FAA grounded all Regions-Air planes in March after taking issue with the air carrier's line check airman certification and training program.

The airline is flying again, but it claims in the lawsuit the government illegally shut them down. It seeks nearly $12 million in damage.

The shutdown affected service between Lambert Airport and the cities of Decatur, Marion, Springfield, and Quincy, Ill., as as well as Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. and Burlington, Iowa.

Durbin's staff declined to comment, saying they hadn't seen the lawsuit.
