Edwardsville, Ill. – A Southern Illinois University-Edwardsville student is accused of threatening to go on a kind of killing rampage similar to the Virginia Tech shootings earlier this year.
Madison County prosecutors charged Olutosin Oduwole Tuesday with attempting to make a terrorist threat. He could face 15 years in prison if convicted and remains jailed.
Court documents show the man wrote a note demanding $50,000 to a Pay-Pal account and threatening violence if the money wasn't deposited. He also recently ordered several semiautomatic weapons.
Investigators say a loaded gun was found in the 22-year-old's apartment, and a gun dealer alerted federal officials because Oduwole appeared anxious and impatient when he ordered four semiautomatic weapons.
Originally from New Jersey, Oduwole's jailed on $1 million dollars bond.
