New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg spoke at the National Urban League conference Wednesday in St. Louis.
Bloomberg's appearance has fueled more speculation that he might run for president as an independent.
His speech focused on public education and the changes that have been made in the New York City school system during his time as mayor.
Bloomberg says he spoke to the National Urban League to bring attention to public education. He says he's not running for president.
"I'm going to serve as mayor for 890 days at which point I will be 67 years old, and there will be a new president, a man or a woman, who presumably will serve for a long time," Bloomberg said. "I only hope whoever the public elects, that the next president does a great job."
Several declared presidential candidates will speak at the conference later this week.
That includes Democrats Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, John Edwards, and Denis Kucinich, as well as Republicans Mike Huckabee and Duncan Hunter.
