St. Louis, MO. – The St. Louis Board of Aldermen has a new clerk and attorney.
In a closed meeting this morning there was a unanimous vote for Denise Watson-Wesley Coleman.
Coleman got her law degree at the St. Louis University in 1984 and is a member of the bar in both Missouri and Illinois.
She's in private practice, but has also worked for the city of St. Louis as a hearing officer for the Department of Safety and for the Collector of Revenue.
Board President Lewis Reed says Coleman has the right experience.
"We're very excited to have her as our next clerk and attorney, and there's a lot of work to be down here, so we need someone who can hit the ground running," Reed said.
Before the closed meeting Reed asked aldermen to conduct themselves with decorum, after a contentious meeting last week.
Following the Coleman's approval, Reed said he was happy with the way aldermen came together.
