St. Louis, MO. – Dogs will soon be allowed on restaurant patios throughout most of St. Louis.
The Board of Aldermen passed the so-called doggie dining ordinance this morning 25 to 1.
But there are seven wards that are exempted from the bill.
Sponsor Lyda Krewson says it will be clear to pet owners which restaurants welcome pooches.
"So just like now you make a decision about where to go to a restaurant maybe as to whether they allow smoking, or whether you like their toasted ravioli, now also one of your options will be do they allow dogs or not," Krewson said. "And the restaurant owner has to post a sign, do they allow dogs."
Restaurant owners can ask pet-owners to remove disruptive dogs.
Mayor Francis Slay plans to sign the bill symbolically at the Boat House this Sunday.
He must wait 10 days after the ordinance is passed to actually sign it.
