Edwardsville, Ill. – The marching band director at Alton High School is out of a job over allegations that he inappropriately touched at least one female student.
Alton's school board unanimously voted Tuesday night to fire David Drillinger, 54, as a tenured teacher.
A Madison County grand jury in April indicted Drillinger -- a 32-year teacher -- and assistant Matthew Banks on misdemeanor battery charges related to their alleged touching of high school music students.
Drillinger is charged with two misdemeanors. One accuses him of inappropriately put his hand on a female student's hand, and on another occasion rubbed the back and side of a female student.
Banks faces one misdemeanor for his alleged physical contact with a girl.
