St. Louis, MO. – The Missouri State Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control will not press charges against Mike Shannon's Restaurant in connection with the death of Cardinals' pitcher Josh Hancock

Last month, Hancock died in a car crash after drinking at Shannon's Restaurant. His blood alcohol level was nearly twice the legal limit.

ATC agents interviewed bartenders, servers, and several Cardinals players to determine whether Hancock was continually served despite showing signs of drunkenness.

All claimed Hancock was drinking in moderation.

Two anonymous patrons identified in a Post-Dispatch article, claim Hancock was slurring his speech.

Those witnesses did not come forward and were not interviewed by the ATC.

"At this point the evidence is overwhelming that Mr. Hancock was not visibly intoxicated," said state supervisor Pete Lobdell, on Thursday.

ATC says it was difficult to determine just how many drinks Hancock had since he was part of a group tab of 8-10 people. After they cashed out Hancock opened a new tab.
