St. Louis, MO. – A judge has tossed part of a law barring sex offenders from living close to a school or day care in Missouri.
A sex offender in the St. Louis area had sued, claiming it's wrong for the state to make him move from his home because the legal standard later changed.
Judge Patricia Joyce agreed and barred the state from enforcing the law retroactively.
The law did not allow sex offenders to live within one-thousand feet of a school or day care, even if they resided there before the law took effect last June.
