St. Louis – A leader of St. Louis' historic preservation movement has passed away.

Marti Frumhoff started up the St. Louis Rehabbers Club in 2000, and later founded the nonprofit ReVitalize St. Louis.

The Rehabbers Club now has more than 2,300 members, including Gayle Van Dyke.

Van Dyke said Frumhoff was never shy about her passion for the city of St. Louis.

"Living and loving the city will be her legacy," Van Dyke said. "And hopefully, she will not be forgotten in that, and we can continue to do what we're doing, and do it with a salute to her."

Marti Frumhoff was 50 years old. A cause of death has not yet been made public.

A funeral is scheduled for Friday at 1 p.m. at the Central Reform Congregation at Kingshighway and Waterman.

Marti Frumhoff was a guest on KWMU's St. Louis on the Air in 2005. She discussed rehabbing in the city. You can hear the program here.
