Jefferson City, Mo. – About 50 opponents of Governor Blunt's Missouri HealthNet crowded into his State Capitol office Wednesday in the hopes of telling him in person that they'd instead prefer having Medicaid cuts restored.
Some of them held signs comparing Missouri HealthNet to a fishing net full of holes.
The Reverend Ronald Bobo of St. Louis spoke for the group.
He didn't get to see the governor, but instead delivered the group's message to one of Blunt's aides.
"We are asking the governor to restore those cuts, those who are cut from health care, stop HealthNet that is poaching or stealing health care from Missourians, vote 'no' on SB 577 in its current form, vote 'yes' on a plan only if full Medicaid restorations are included," Bobo said.
Afterward, Blunt said HealthNet would be good for Missouri by focusing on prevention and saving money on unnecessary emergency room visits and hospital stays.
