Jefferson City, Mo. – With only two weeks left in the spring legislative session, the halls of the Missouri Capitol are busy these days. In both the Senate and House, lawmakers are in the final sprint to pass bills.
One of the biggest issues facing lawmakers is the overhaul of the state's Medicaid program into the new Missouri HealthNet.
Two state representatives have a unique perspective on the debate. Republican Rob Schaaf and Democrat Sam Page are both doctors.
They are also on the committee that's hearing the bill that has most of the Medicaid changes.
Schaaf chairs the committee, and with the help of committee members, including Democrats like Page, the Republican is making some major changes of his own.
KWMU's Maria Hickey sat down with both lawmakers at the State Capitol.
