McCaskill's new knee making her 'cranky'

Senator Claire McCaskill

By Tom Weber, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – U.S. Senator Claire McCaskill says her new knee is 'driving her nuts' because of how much it's slowed her down.

The Missouri Democrat had her right knee replaced earlier this month and this week switched from using crutches to a cane.

But she adds she hasn't had the energy to put in the long hours she's used to: "I'm frustrated and a little cranky about it but I know I'll be glad I got it done; about a month from now I think I'll be a lot more cheerful about it than I am right now."

McCaskill says she put off the surgery for years while she ran for governor, and later Senate.
