St. Louis – The Missouri Supreme Court has sided with Saint Louis University in a lawsuit over funding for the school's new basketball arena.
The university wants to use $8 million in tax-increment financing to pay for part of the project.
But the Masonic Temple Association claimed the university should not get public money because it's a religious institution.
The university argued while it is Catholic, it is controlled by an independent board of trustees and not by the Church.
In a 6 to 1 decision Tuesday, the Missouri Supreme Court agreed with Saint Louis University.
