Jefferson City, MO – The Missouri Baptist Convention this week fired its top executive after a four-month investigation into rumors about his character.
The Rev. David Clippard was fired Tuesday in Jefferson City after heading the convention since 2002. The Rev. David Tolliver was voted interim director.
Clippard has been under fire for several months over accusations of sexual harassment and religious intolerance.
A former Missouri Baptist Convention employee, Carol Kaylor, accused him of sexual harassment in a case that ultimately was settled out of court.
Then in October, at the convention's annual meeting, Clippard told 12-hundred delegates that "Islam has a strategic plan to defeat and occupy America."
