St. Louis – A landmark building in north St. Louis damaged during a severe storm last year suffered even more damage from heavy winds over the weekend.

The Mullanphy Emigrant Home was built in 1867 to provide temporary housing to newcomers passing through the city.

It has been in disrepair for decades. And last year a brick wall collapsed during a springtime storm. High winds on Saturday caused a second wall to crumble.

The Old North St. Louis Restoration Group owns the Emigrant Home and is trying to restore it.

Executive Director Sean Thomas said emergency repairs a few months ago prevented a total collapse.

"We had some work that was done at the end of January to stabilize the south end," Thomas said. "And thankfully those wall studs are what held that end of the building up."

Thomas said his group needs to raise about $300,000 just to stabilize the building.

There's more information about the Mullanphy Emigrant Home as well as photos at ONSL.org.
