St. Louis, MO – Two St. Louis police officers killed a man who shot at them Tuesday night. The shooting happened several blocks from Busch Stadium just before the start of the Cardinals game.
Police Chief Joe Mokwa says the officers were on routine patrol downtown when they stopped a man to question him about recent auto break-ins in the area.
Mokwa says the man started walking away, but turned and opened fire. Mokwa says both officers returned fire, shooting him in the head.
The officers were not injured, and two people with the dead man were detained for questioning.
Dozens of people witnessed the shootout; one said he heard ten to 15 shots.
