St. Louis, MO – The manager of the World Series Champion St. Louis Cardinals was arrested overnight on suspicion of driving drunk.

Tony LaRussa, 62, was arrested in Florida, not far from his team's spring training home in the city of Jupiter.

He had reportedly fallen asleep inside his SUV and was stopped at an intersection. Police say they grew suspicious after the car didn't move after a few green lights.

They also say they smelled alcohol after they woke up LaRussa and he parked his car.

Further tests suggested a blood-alcohol level of .093, above the legal limit of .08. He was released from jail this morning after posting $500 bond; the charge he faces is a misdemeanor.

The Cardinals' World Series win last fall was LaRussa's second of his career. He's also a four-time Manager of the Year and is has the third-most careers wins of any manager in baseball history.
