East St. Louis, Ill. – The Casino Queen in East St. Louis will not be bought by Kentucky-based Columbia Sussex, after all.
In a statement from the board of directors today, Casino Queen said it had ended its agreement with the company. The statement also says operations at Casino Queen will continue as they have under the current owners.
And, a spokesman says the casino's $150 million expansion to an inland moat will continue as scheduled.
The project calls for the gambling site to move about 700 feet from the Mississippi River to a manmade basin on what now is the casino's hotel parking lot.
