St. Louis, MO. – Red light cameras are going up in St. Louis and are expected to begin operating next Friday.
A police spokesman says there will be a press conference next week but would give no details until then.
In the fall city officials said they planned to install ten cameras at intersections where accidents are frequent.
The city is not paying for the red-light cameras. The company American Traffic Solutions is installing them, and gets to keep about a third of each $100 ticket.
Suburbs including Arnold, Florissant and St. Peters already have the cameras.
